It seems my warden's taken a leave of absence.

[Jones bends down, examining a comatose Captain Bush. He grunts, before reaching down and slinging the unconscious man over one shoulder, standing back up again]

For those wanting him, yeh'll have to seek my permission.

[And off he goes; not to the infirmary, but to his own room. Can't trust those doctors to fix him; can't trust anyone]

I'll give you my word that so long as I am able to check on Bush every few days, and maintain his good condition, that he can slumber in your cabin.

You will announce yourself before entering, and not enter without my permission.

I will even politely knock.

[lastincident]

Thank you, Captain. I'll be down in a few minutes to check on him.

[ And he'll knock and everything like he said he would. ]

[Limping to the door, Jones pulls it open, glowering down at Bruce. The smell of brine is heavy in the air, and a few inches of water rush out to drown Bruce's ankles once the door is opened]

Banner.

Captain. [ Bruce glances down, and then asks: ] Does the water always build up like that?

[tentacruelest]

[Giving an indifferent shrug, Jones gives a nod to the miniature dam set up in the hall]

Thank your maintenance crew for that.

[lastincident]

Interesting. [ Weird, wet and interesting. ] May I come in?

[tentacruelest]

[Instead of answering, Jones leaves the door open and turns to limp away from the entrance. He drops down hard on his organ bench, eyeing Bush on his mossy, waterlogged bed]

Be my guest.

[lastincident]

[ Bruce is at least quick about it, but he frowns a bit at the condition of the bed. ]

Can I bring a tarp down? To separate him from the damp.

[tentacruelest]

A little seawater'll be good for him. Keeps bedsores away.

[lastincident]

But chill won't be. It'll just take a moment, alright?

[ Let him help you take care of your warden, Davy. ]

[tentacruelest]

[He scowls, weighing Bruce over in his mind.]

He's stout.

[lastincident]

I can handle him. Handled bigger.

[tentacruelest]

I mean he is hardy. He's battled worse conditions.

[lastincident]

But we have no idea how long he'll be under. Could be weeks.

[tentacruelest]

Could be, indeed.

Bring your tarp. But it won't do him much good; everything turns to rot here, in time.

[lastincident]

Alright. It'll just be a few minutes.

[ And he heads off to do that, and will be back -- and knock again -- with his tarp. ]

[tentacruelest]

[Jones sits on his organ bench, looking wholly unimpressed with the idea of Bruce in his cabin]

Come.

[lastincident]

[ Bruce enters, and sets to work; he's more then able to move Bush's body as needed to get the tarp beneath him and keep him from being damp, and hopefully, that'll be enough for now. ]
