[This week on the Barge, an older, somewhat new face is lurking about, obsessively checking a fob watch chained to his pocket and walking awkwardly through the halls. Those who were here in October during the mirror Barge may recognize the man as a disguised Davy Jones, struggling to grow comfortable in his human skin. He still limps carefully, but seems to be enjoying his relative anonymity]

[Davy stares back hard at Steph as she asks the question, and steps back to let her look him over. He gives her his patented scowl, waiting for her to figure it out. Apparently he can go around in disguise as long as he keeps his mouth shut. Helpful to know.]

[ She stares at him for a moment. It's the expression that does it more than just the look of him, though the limp does help. Then she's gaping. ]

Squid face? Where did your squid face go?

[ Stephanie do not poke the angry lobster. ]

[And now there's real resentment in his scowl, as he turns away, his hand grabbing the pocketwatch, his knuckles whitening around it]

Never you mind, brat.

[ That's kind of alarming, really. ]

Did something happen? 'Cause if you're trying to be sneaky your technique could use some work.

Don't be stupider than yeh already are. This is what I look like when I ain't cursed. My warden felt it time.

I'm going to have to come up with a new nickname for you.

I am like that. But I was human before it. What part o' "cursed" is causing yeh confusion?

I think it's the part where you're human. I thought you were like, a merman, but without the tail.

Not hardly. Mermen are rarer, prettier. I was born human. Only through mistake did I turn into what yeh've seen before.

What the heck did you do that warranted crab hands?

[ That seems a little extreme, she thinks. ]

It's a long story. One I don't like sharing with those who don't call me by my given name.

[ichoosefight]

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with crab hands. [ She makes crab hand motions with both hands. ] It just seems like a big inconvenience, if you weren't born with them.

[ Yeah she's not going to start calling him by his real name just to get the story. That's no fun at all. ]

[Steph's immaturity only seals the deal with Jones: in no way does he want to talk about his life with this girl. Glaring, he nudges aside and starts to turn away]

I haven't had enough to drink to put up with yer nonsense today, girl.

People rarely have.

[ She is utterly shameless. But now she knows what he looks like, and she's reasonably confident he won't be changing again. ]

[ Oh look! A new nickname. She gives him a mock salute before turning to be on her way.

In the opposite of the way she was going before. She's forgotten what she was doing. ]
