Davy Jones has been looking it over for the past day, and is thus far unimpressed. A way to talk to the rest of the crew? What was the point? They had nothing worthwhile to discuss]


Pardon the intrusion of an old pirate captain, but I believe I've requested to see his grace the Admiral, if he so deigns to get his fat arse off the bridge and address my concerns.

Bah - you think a day's stay in the brig will ease th' way of our voyage together? You think your pathetic lot of untested boys, women and slaves is enough to keep Davy Jones at bay for long? You're more of a fool than I'd taken you for.

And the next bilge rat what comes down here prattling on about inmates and other worlds is the next I mark for death.

I would say to that man that he needs to get into a better line of work. First of all, this place does it better. Second, I don't believe in God. Third, I don't believe in final judgement.

You may have a point, and on that note: Welcome to the Barge! You are an Inmate. You will eventually be assigned a Warden whose job is to guide and protect you as you redeem yourself.

No one is expecting you to become a saint, just a better man for your own sake. I trust you'll make yourself at home.

So you'd like to posit that you are a perfectly contented, adjusted squid man who offers shady deals to complete strangers by taking advantage of a natural, mortal fear.

I am not content, but neither do I need any leash-holdings by those who would seek to use and control me!

No no [Holding up a placating hand] I assure you, there are no leashes. No one who walks here will control you. Your Warden, as someone who understands how this place works and how it can affect people, is here to advise you, advocate for you, and only take action against you if you try to harm someone else -- which is as much as could be expected anywhere.

As action has already been taken against me for doing harm to another, I will not accept one. If one is assigned, they had best throw themselves over the side of the ship to save me the trouble.

You're offended that people took issue with you killing someone?

I am stating that because others have performed the duty ordinarily given to a warden in one's absence, I have no need of a personal advocate.

Sometimes it takes a while for the Admiral to assign you. Periodically it happens every 15 days but not everyone is sorted. Until then you're everyone's responsibility.

I know, a little unfair, and I personally find it rather distasteful. But I promise it is temporary.

That is a lie. By the very nature of completing my tenure, someone here has the power to send me back.

There is no Captain. If I were to credit the Admiral with any power it's just his ability to understand her a little better than we do.

All the same you have offer of my company, my wine, or access to the enclosure or the pub at your request, once you're out and about again.

All I ask, not necessarily in return, is that you refrain from harming my friends in the future. You have no need of enemies in a place such as this.

That all depends on the quality of the wine.

You would have to sample it yourself. The vintages I currently hold come from the orchards at my old chateau but I pick up new bottles that interest me in various ports.
